Poll: 78 Percent of Employees Resolve to Lose Weight This Year-- 41 percent say a personal trainer would best help them reach goal; 21 percent say wellness program would do the trick
More than three-quarters of employees reported having a New Year´s resolution to lose weight, according to a nationwide Tell It NowSM poll by ComPsych Corporation. ComPsych is the world´s largest provider of employee assistance programs and worldwide leader in GuidanceResources (EAPs, behavioral health, wellness, work-life and crisis intervention services).
Employees were asked: Do you have a New Year´s resolution to lose weight? If so, what would most help you reach your goal?
41 percent said a personal trainer/nutritionist 21 percent said a wellness program provided by my employer 11 percent said a program I pay for (such as Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, etc.) 5 percent said books or videos on diet/exercise 22 percent said I do not have a resolution to lose weight
"Employees are seeking guidance and direction in losing weight - whether it´s through a trainer or a wellness program," said Dr. Richard A. Chaifetz, chairman and CEO of ComPsych. The study was conducted from Jan. 1 to Feb. 10, 2008, receiving responses from more than 1,000 ComPsych client companies nationwide.
